Freddie Glenn Looper

Freddie Glenn Looper, 76, of Albany, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born and raised in Albany, Kentucky, Freddie spent much of his life as a mechanic and carpenter. Outside of work, he found comfort in life's simple pleasures--watching Westerns, listening to Alan Jackson, and enjoying the familiar routines that brought him peace.

Glenn was a veteran of the United States Army proudly serving his country in Germany from 1969 to 1971.

Freddie was a independent, reserved, and stubborn man who rarely expressed his emotions with words. Those who knew him best understood that his love was shown through his presence, his hard work, and the things he did for the people he cared about.

After a courageous battle with lung cancer, Freddie chose peace and comfort, spending his final days surrounded by the love of his family. Though their hearts are broken, they find comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering and is finally at rest.

He is survived by his daughters, Pam (Daniel) Gray, Ellie (Tony) Thornsberry, Glenda (Jason) Appleby, and Macy (Joseph) Patrick; his beloved grandchildren, Samantha (Molly) Gray, Kayla Gray, Emma Gray, Jenna Patrick, Greyson Patrick, and Maylee Patrick; his ex-wife and special friend, Maxine Looper; his siblings, Willie Thrasher Dryden, Jim Looper, and Brenda Stearns; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Ellie Covey Looper, and his siblings, Mary Looper Thrasher and Earl Looper.

Freddie's legacy is one of resilience, determination, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and will forever cherish the memories they shared. While his absence leaves an immeasurable void, they take comfort in the promise that love does not end in death. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and they look forward to the day they will see him again.

Burial will be in Irwin Cemetery with Military Honors.
