Jack “Hoot” C. Gibson, 74, of Greenwood, passed away on June 20, 2024. He was born on October 17, 1949 in Albany, Kentucky to the late Barney Gibson and Pearl (Stockton) Gibson.
He was a member of Greenwood Memorial VFW Post 5864. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War, where he received a Bronze Star Medal. He worked at Yellow Freight for over 35 years, retiring in 2013.
Hoot loved spending time with his family and friends, driving in drag races and being the pit crew for his son, and also riding his Harley-Davidson.
Hoot leaves behind to treasure his memory, his son, Barry Hunter; brother, MV Gibson and companion, Barbara Cannon.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Karen Elaine Gibson, and brothers, Donald Gibson, Jimmy Gibson and David Gibson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, with visitation from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
The family will also receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Talbott Funeral Home, 1106 N. Cross Street, Albany, Kentucky. A Graveside service will follow at Cartwright Cemetery in Albany, Kentucky with Military Honors.
