Lola Mae Nelson

Lola Mae (Gibson) Nelson, age 92 passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday September 27, 2026. She was the daughter of George and Esther Gibson.

She was of the Christian faith and a member of Peolia Church. Lola treasured spending time with those she loved, and if you stopped at her house you were always offered something good to eat.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Estel Eugene Nelson, whom she wed on July 5, 1952. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Jackie Nelson and Phillip Nelson and a sister Margaret Burchett.

Lola is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Lonnie) Scott and Sandra (Wendell) Byrd, eight grandchildren: Jackie Nelson, Brent Byrd, Brandon Nelson, Stacy Hutchinson, Beth Neal, Zack Pittman, Tess Craig, Cole Nelson and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Eva (Earl) Savage, two nieces, and a special caregiver Rita Brumley.

Lola was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Burial will be in Peolia Cemetery.
